FAQs

Summer Camp FAQs

Is summer camp fun?
The kids who attend the summer camp have a blast! They are exhausted each day from playing in the creek or pond, fishing, playing four square, riding the horses, etc. It is a full day of activity that can be dirty, wet, sweaty, or slimy.

How often do you ride the horses?
We try to groom the horses each day with riding each day depending on weather and other scheduled activities. The campers are encouraged to interact with the horses as often as they like.

Is the summer camp expensive?
Summer camp costs $175 per person for five, nine hour days, pretty good deal compared to other camps around the county.

Will my child be safe?
Deb is a stickler when it comes to safety. Campers wear helmets when riding the horses and use a hands-on approach to grooming and interacting with the horses. During inclement weather, the barn is the perfect classroom shelter. If there is a tornado warning, the students will make their way to Deb's home, about 300 yards from the barn.

What is there to do if it rains during camp?
This happens all of the time. Here is a list of things that campers have done in the past when it is raining: play hide and go seek in the barn, play four square, crafts, color, paint, groom the horses, brush the dogs, play with the snakes, clean saddles, sit around and talk, eat snack or lunch.

Will my child stay clean?
Nope.

How many animals are there?
Here is a list of what the campers will be exposed to: 4 horses, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 snakes, 1 bearded dragon, all current on vaccinations.

What if I have an allergy?
Campers are exposed to dust, insects, hay, animal fur, native plants. Allergy medicines would be required to keep campers comfortable. Deb keeps a complete first aid kit, but additional allergy support would benefit those campers in need if they have allergies.

What if we're hiking and someone needs to go to the bathroom?
We find a tree! Campers may have to use the great outdoors. I'm happy to teach that at this camp.

Are cell phones or other electronics allowed?
Yes.

How many instructors are there?
Just Deb.
