Misty

Many of you read about my Percheron, Misty. She was my first horse. In the summer of 2010 she got EPM. (for more information click here) She go through the winter of 2010-2011 okay, but when the spring temperatures started to get hot, she started failing quick. She stumbled and often looked like she would fall down. I couldn't let her suffer any longer and had her put down this past summer. I miss her terribly but she'll always be in my heart.

Facility

We are fine tuning a few things with the paddocks, barn, and arena. We'll be installing additional gates, tack room lockers, tack room shelving, a new business sign, and a monitored fire suppression system. Looks like we always have something on our plate to do.

GROUPON

I sold a GROUPON in June 2011 for 3 riding lessons for $45.00. It was very successful…85 people bought the GROUPON! For the last six months I've been juggling and doing some creative scheduling to get all of those riding lessons completed around my teaching job, riding lessons, and keeping up the farm. It's been hectic, challenging, but very rewarding. Lots of people got some great natural horsemanship lessons under their belts.

Boarders

Building the boarding side of this business has been one that I've taken very slowly. Over the past year I've taken in four boarders. It's very important to me to be sure I have everything lined up to take great care of other people's horses. We have an American Warmblood/Bashkir, an Arabian, and two Quarter Horses. I'm expecting two more boarders in January 2012. Both of them are American Saddlebreds.
